They say dogs are man’s best friend, but Émile Cyr’s cat is no doubt his bff these days. After all, how many other pets have helped their owners hit lottery jackpots?

It started with a scene many may be familiar with, especially those who have been working from home during the pandemic: a cat walking across a computer keyboard, no doubt looking for some attention and affection.

The Montrealer was attempting to grab the last spot in a 6/49 lottery group online for the July 17 draw when his cat did “a little dance on his keyboard,” foiling Cyr’s bid and costing him his spot. Undeterred, Cyr decided to form his own group, “which he named The Flying Wallenda in honour of his feline friend,” Loto-Québec reports.

Cyr and his group are singing the praises of The Flying Wallenda after splitting a $6-million prize, and perhaps bestowing a lot of love and treats on the little keyboard dancer.

The three other winners were Pierre Grisé in the Montérégie, Richard Lafortune in the Laurentians and Hrak Majarian in Laval.
