Research reveals Brits are actually more likely to try their luck on Friday 13. Research by Paddy Power Bingo, showed that, when compared to figures for an average day, they saw an uptick of 4% in the number of people playing bingo games on Friday 13.

But the data revealed that while punters are more inclined to take their chances this coming Friday, jackpots won on previous Fridays that fell on the 13th were 13% lower.

Rachael Kane, spokesperson for Paddy Power Bingo, said: “Friday 13 has always been viewed as a day of bad luck, but our research suggests our bingo players pay no heed to superstition. IIt did send a shiver down our spines when we discovered jackpot amounts drop by 13% though, so we have taken measures to exorcise ourselves of that unsettling coincidence.”

To offset the spooky anomaly, Paddy Power Bingo have introduced a special promotion, ensuring everyone playing in Paddy’s Pennies room from 9pm to 11.30pm this Friday is a guaranteed winner.
