Mississippi casinos report revenue of $218 million in July

The Mississippi Gaming Commission (MGC) reported that the state’s 28 casinos generated $218.5 million in revenue in July from poker, slots and table games.
Revenue increased 3.5% compared to July 2022 ($211 million) and 10% compared to June of this year ($198.1 million).
Coastal casinos reported revenue of $143.1 million in July, while northern casinos generated $48.3 million and central casinos generated $27 million.
Total revenue for the first seven months of the year reached $1.47 billion.
Beyond casinos: sports betting drops in Mississippi
Mississippi sports betting added $17.7 million in July. This represents a 3.3% decrease from July 2022 ($18.3 million) and a 13.2% decrease compared to June of this year ($20.4 million).
The sports betting total for July was the lowest of the year so far.
AGA reports $16 billion in US gambling revenue
According to the American Gaming Association (AGA), US gaming generated a quarterly record $16.07 billion in revenue in the second quarter of 2023.
The impressive second-quarter results, which came in at an 8.1% increase, marked the 10th consecutive quarter of annual growth for gaming in the United States.
“These results are a clear indication that our post-pandemic recovery has not been a fluke: the gaming industry continues to thrive, and when we do well, our communities do too,” said American Gaming Association CEO and President, Bill Miller, in a statement.
Sports betting reported the most significant growth in the second quarter of 2023, with revenue reaching $2.3 billion.
