Michigan Lottery: Man wins $321K Fantasy 5 jackpot playing ‘hot’ numbers

ROSCOMMON COUNTY, Mich. – A Michigan Lottery player used the hot/cold numbers feature when he purchased a jackpot winning Fantasy 5 ticket.
The 69-year-old player from Roscommon County chose to remain anonymous. He matched the Fantasy 5 numbers in the Jan. 16 drawing: 05-09-13-16-24 to win a $321,542 Fantasy 5 jackpot.
“It was snowing out, so I bought my Fantasy 5 ticket online so that I didn’t have to go out to the store,” said the player. “I looked up the hot/cold numbers on the website and swapped out a few of my usual numbers with some of the hot numbers.”
The hot/cold numbers is a feature on MichiganLottery.com.
“The day after the drawing, I saw an email from the Michigan Lottery regarding a prize. When I logged in and saw I’d won the Fantasy 5 jackpot, I was very surprised,” he said.
With his big prize, the player plans on remodeling his home and sharing some winnings with his grandkids.
Each Fantasy 5 play is $1.
For an additional $1 per play, EZmatch can be added to a Fantasy 5 ticket, giving players a chance to win up to $500 instantly. For an additional $1 per play, Double Play can be added, giving players a second chance to win up to $110,000 in the nightly Double Play drawing.
Fantasy 5 players select five numbers from one to 39. Players who match all five Fantasy 5 numbers drawn win a jackpot that starts at $100,000. Fantasy 5 drawings are held seven days a week at 7:29 p.m.
