Nothing happens quickly on the Las Vegas Strip. The 4.2-mile stretch is home to numerous megaresorts all battling for the same customers. Building a new project in a city where the labor market has gotten tight and the cost of construction materials has gone up is a huge challenge.

MGM took over Cosmopolitan. The new property will be integrated into MGM's booking system and sports-betting platform as of August 22. Media invited to get a look ahead at the upcoming NFL season. They will also get to see a performance by comedian Carrot Top.

The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas will take its first sports bet on Monday, August 22. The BetMGM Sportsbook & Lounge will celebrate the transition to the MGM Resorts family. Executives from BetmGM, The Cosmo and MGM will be available for interviews to discuss the expansion into the iconic resort.

MGM bought the Cosmopolitan and sold the Mirage. It was done in concert with MGM spinning off its underlying real estate efforts to Vici Properties. The integration of the two properties will make it easier to market to the company's existing loyalty user base. It will enable MGM casino players to book rooms there through MGM's channels and get complementary perks at the new property.
