Capcom may be keeping the next big Mega Man title under wraps for now but if you’re looking to get into the action old school style, then it was announced that Blacklist Games and Kess are creating a brand-new, officially-licensed board game called Mega Man Adventures.

In Mega Man Adventures, you can play solo in a short game or against multiple players (up to 4). There are difficulty settings that adjust the rules to the game as well.

For this, you draw four cards. The cards will show you colored cubes (red, yellow, or blue) that correspond to die with different actions. Normally, red has mostly shoot, blue has mostly jump, and yellow has mostly run. After picking your character (Mega Man, Proto Man, Rush, or Roll), you can slot in two of those cards in your support slots. The top half of the card will be used here which gives you either a die match up for Dr. Light’s support cards, or bonus tokens for run, shoot, or jump.

You can then slot your third or fourth drawn card into your skill slot where the bottom half of your card comes in to play. For example, you could take one damage but get an extra ability such as a jump.

You also have weapons cards. You start off with one but once you beat a boss, you can acquire another (up to three total). These are very helpful when you face robot masters.

In order to fight a robot master, you must complete a stage. A stage will have three phases to it. You must meet the requirements for each phase to move on, otherwise you take damage. For example, you might be asked to wait (discard 2 of your rolled dice) and jump, or you might be asked to jump and shoot. Failing to meet those requirements will force you to take the indicated damage. You have 5 HP before you die but you do get 1 E-Tank to use at any time to refill your life.

Once you pass all stages, you fight the boss. The boss itself has a required number of phases you must go through and, just like the stages, you need to meet all the criteria in order to win.

There is a lot of depth and strategy to this game. There is a near 40-minute video which goes through a solo campaign. You can check out that video below:

The game is slated for a Quater 2, 2022 release and will run you $40. Pre-orders are available now which you can get by going here: Mega Man Adventures | Blacklist Games (blacklistgamesllc.com)
