Man hits $250,000 jackpot at the Golden Nugget Casino in Biloxi

A Gulf Coast man got an early Christmas present when he hit a $250,000 jackpot last Wednesday, December 23.
The man, who asked to remain anonymous, placed a $100 bet on a top dollar slot machine at the Golden Nugget Casino when he hit a non-progressive jackpot.
A non-progressive jackpot is a jackpot that is fixed at a specific amount. Any jackpot over $100,000 that is won requires the Mississippi Gaming Commission to come out to the casino and verify the win. This process usually takes about an hour.
Golden Nugget General Manager Chett Harrison says these kinds of jackpots are exciting because they only happen a couple times a year. “Well, everybody wants to see when you see something lock up that big. Our employees are excited for our customers when they win any jackpot, especially one that big. What a great form of entertainment that you have the opportunity to come, be entertained, and leave with more than you came with.”
Larger jackpots have been won at the Golden Nugget in the past such as several wide-area progressives worth more than one million dollars.
