Perhaps it was divine intervention?

A Las Vegas local named Jesus C. scored a huge jackpot of more than $10 million Friday on a slot machine.

The massive payout didn’t happen at a glitzy Las Vegas Strip resort, however. Jesus picked up the win of $10,483,726 at the Cannery Casino, located six miles north of the Strip.

He reportedly only put $40 into the machine. That’s a little more than just turning water into wine.

The win came on July 7 on a Megabucks slot machine, which features an interconnected jackpot pool among all Nevada-based machines. There are about 140 casinos in the state with at least one machine in operation.

Megabucks slot machines have been in play since 1986 and have historically only been hit an average of 2-3 times each year. To qualify, a player must bet at least $3 per spin.

The biggest slot machine jackpot of all time also came on a Megabucks machine, with $39,713,982 won by software engineer Jay Brennan at Excalibur Casino back in 2003.

The largest slot payout ever at the Cannery Casino came in 2005, when a retired veteran named Elmer Sherwin pocketed $21.1 million. Incredibly, Sherwin had already won a jackpot worth $4.6 million at the Mirage in 1989. He ended up donating most of the winnings to charity.
