DAYTON — Investigators have raided a local internet café in connection to a reported illegal gambling operation.

Investigators from Dayton Police were at Lucky Day Internet Café on Needmore Road working with the Ohio Casino Control Commission (OCCC) on an investigation.

An officer who was unable to provide his name because of the undercover nature of the investigation told News Center 7 that the investigation was related to an alleged illegal gambling operation and that they had been there since around 10:30 a.m.

Investigators took items out of the internet café and loaded them into trucks.

“We’ll collect the evidence, take all that. The main evidence that we’re taking is the machines,” the officer said.

While the exact number of machines taken was not currently known, the officer estimated they collected about 100 into evidence. They also collected money from the café as evidence.

The OCCC confirmed to News Center 7 that no arrests were made. The officer told us charges were pending.

As we showed you on News Center 7 at 5:30, one man who showed up to play thought the café had been raided when he showed up. That’s when we confirmed to him that it was.

“It’s kind of a shock, really,” the man, who wished to remain anonymous, said.
