High 5 Casino review [2023]
Wild Casino

High 5 Casino is at the cutting edge of social and sweepstakes casinos in the US.

It’s the closest any social site has yet come to the same variety and quality of software of the top real money casino platforms, but its unique sweepstakes model means High 5 casino is available in almost every single state in the US - with just Washington, Michigan, Nevada and Idaho excluded.

Social casinos like High 5 let you play casino style games online, totally free. When you play in Sweepstakes mode, you also have the possibility of redeeming your coins for real cash prizes.

In this High 5 casino review, we’re explaining exactly what it is that makes this platform so impressive.

We’re going deep on bonuses, games, customer support and much more, as well as the special touches that distinguish High 5 from the majority of social platforms -  like the selection of live dealer games.

We’ll also be calling out the areas we still think could be improved.

High 5 Casino bonuses and promotions

Just like pretty much all social casinos, bonuses form a huge part of both High 5’s appeal and method of engagement with players.

As we’re going to get into in more detail in a later section, the games at High 5 are all played using either Game Coins or Sweeps Coins - and you can pick up both via free bonuses, in a number of ways.

There are also special promotional symbols called Diamonds, which unlock different bonuses. We’re going to explain them all in the section.

High 5 Casino welcome bonus

High 5 Casino gives you a small supply of Coins and Diamonds as a welcome bonus for creating your account: 250 Game Coins, 5 Sweeps Coins and 600 Diamonds.

This is a perfect example of our favorite type of welcome bonus: it gives you a taste of everything on offer straight away, no purchase required.

If you do decide to purchase some coins, there are more bonuses waiting down the line.

High 5 Casino purchase offers

High 5 lets you purchase Game Coin packages if you want to replenish or top up your free supply.

When you do, you usually get some free Sweeps Coins as a bonus. The packages start from just $2, which is enough for 10 GC and 2 free SC, all the way up to $1,000, which is good for 5,000 GC and 1,005 SC. Certain packages come with Diamonds too.

High 5 Casino VIP rewards and login bonuses

High 5 also has a variety of on-running bonuses and promos that reward returning players.

For one, there is a daily login bonus with 0.50 SC, as well as a Bonus Harvest which gets replenished every four hours, which gives out 10 GC and 15 Diamonds.

Diamonds at High 5 are basically an easier route into bonus games and free spins, which in turn give you a better chance of winning more Sweeps Coins.

You can use your Diamonds whenever you want to activate Game Boost on Demand when you are playing games in Sweepstakes mode. It’s a little like at a regular real money casino when you can pay a premium to buy directly into a lucrative bonus game, rather than waiting around to hit scatter symbols.

Diamonds are a fun addition to the overall High 5 experience, and a pretty novel concept at social casinos.

Pros and cons of High 5 Casino

We found an awful lot to like about High 5, as well as some areas that could still be improved. Here’s an overview:

Pros:

  • Huge menu of slots with over 800 titles, well above average for sweeps sites.
  • Live dealer games are a really impressive addition and rarely available at social or sweeps casinos.
  • Good customer support including live chat.
  • Highly rated and well designed mobile app.
  • We love the Reality Check feature, which encourages healthy playing.

Cons:

  • Unavailable in four US states (Washington, Michigan, Nevada and Idaho), which is more than some competitors.
  • Not many virtual table games

How to create an account at High 5 Casino

Creating an account with High 5 is extremely simple. All legit social casinos are required to gather the same information about their players, so the sign up process is actually fairly similar whichever site you choose. At High 5, you can click the Sign Up button to get started.

You can either sign up manually or create an account using your existing Apple or Google login details. If you choose the manual option, you just need to fill in three fields:

  • Username
  • Password

That’s all you need to get your account up and running! You’ll find your coins waiting for you, ready to start playing.

However, if you intend to play in Sweepstakes mode and request coin redemptions down the line, you will also need to verify your identity. You’ll be prompted to provide your full name, address and date of birth, and you may need to send a copy of some documentation confirming your details are accurate. You’ll also have to verify your phone number, using a code received via text.

It’s all pretty straightforward, and once your identity has been verified High 5 casino is pretty much fully unlocked for you.

High 5 Casino banking methods

We’re happy with the range of banking methods supported by High 5. If you decide to purchase a Game Coin package, you can choose between the following banking methods:

  • Credit Card / Debit Card
  • Online Banking
  • PayPal
  • Skrill

The first thing we should say is that plenty of social casinos just let you use bank cards, so it’s nice to have a selection. The presence of both Skrill and PayPal is also impressive - it’s fairly common that sites simply select one e-wallet.

During our tests, all the methods worked pretty much seamlessly. The minimum Game Coin package starts at just $2, which is good. There are no extra hidden fees either. All in all, it’s a thumbs up.

How to redeem cash prizes at High 5 Casino

First up, let’s cover the basics. All the games at High 5 Casino can be played in two different modes, one using Game Coins and the other using Sweeps Coins. Both coins can be obtained for free in different ways.

You’ll get free Game Coins when you sign up, plus a top up every four hours. You can also purchase additional Game Coins if you want. Sweeps Coins, on the other hand, can never be purchased, only received as part of a free bonus. Game Coins are used for playing games only, and can’t be cashed in for prizes.

Sweeps Coins can also be received for free via your welcome bonus, daily login bonus, the Refer a Friend offer and other promos. You’ll also usually get free Sweeps Coins when you purchase Game Coin packages.

Sweeps Coins have another important difference from Game Coins: you can redeem the Sweeps Coins you win from playing games for prizes, including gift cards and cash

You can check your SC balance and your redeemable SC balance (that is, Sweeps Coins you have won rather than received for free) in the main menu, and click the blue REDEEM button to request a redemption.

You need a minimum of 100 SC to request a cash prize redemption, or 50 SC to request a gift card. Gift Cards are sent to your email address, whereas cash prizes can be transferred to your bank account or via e-wallet. As long as your account is verified, you should receive your prize in a couple of days.

What games can you play at High 5 Casino?

High 5 casino has an incredible 800 games on the menu, including live dealer games, which is very impressive for a social casino. That doesn’t quite tell the full story however, and there is room for improvement. We’re covering it all in the section.

High 5 Casino slots

Slots make up the vast majority of those 800 games, and unsurprisingly the selection is deep, varied and a lot of fun.

The menu includes games from big name software providers like Pragmatic Play, and even sweepstakes versions of classic slots like Big Bass Hold & Spinner.

The slots catalog is really strong. It includes modern and creative 3D games, jackpot slots, valuable bonus games and more. The menu is well designed too, including a search bar, which is useful with so many games.

High 5 Casino table games

Perhaps because High 5 has such great live dealer options, there is a surprising lack of traditional virtual table games.

That even goes for the most common games, like blackjack and roulette. Basically, this is an area we think High 5 could (easily) work on to improve their overall platform. We’d also like to see some bingo or keno games added.

High 5 Casino live dealer games

This is arguably High 5’s most impressive feature and biggest USP. Live dealer games haven’t really taken hold at social casinos so far in general, but High 5 Casino is setting itself up as one of the few pioneers of the format.

In total, there are 17 different live dealer tables including multiple types of blackjack and roulette, as well as Casino Hold’em and some baccarat tables.

The technology works very well, and is broadly similar to how live dealer games look at real money casinos. One thing we’ll say is that the overall production value is slightly smaller: the backgrounds of the tables for instance are computer generated at High 5, rather than actual casinos or physical sets.

Still, the games work very well. It feels like this is a glimpse at the future of social casinos.

High 5 Casino mobile experience

High 5 Casino has an excellent mobile app which you can download on both iOS and Android devices.

  • App Store: 4.6 rating out of 38.9 million reviews
  • Google Store: 4.1 rating out of 91.3 thousand reviews

The app pretty much hits all the right notes, with the software design doing a great job of making the platform feel natural on the smaller screen.

Just like the desktop site, you sign up, claim your welcome and daily bonuses, play games and request SC redemptions - all from your phone. The live games work great too.

High 5 has also optimized its software so that you can access the regular site using your device's browser, if you prefer not to download an app. Overall, we’re giving our High 5 Casino mobile review a good score.

High 5 Casino customer support

There is an awful lot to like about the customer support at High 5 Casino, along with some room for improvement.

First up, and always something we place a lot of weight on in these reviews, there is live chat support. This is always the most efficient way of getting quick answers, so it’s great to see it included. The only downside is that it’s not available 24 hours, which could be improved. Alternatively, you can get email support from support@high5casino.com.

The High 5 help section is interesting, and frankly a little chaotic. It has an awful lot of articles and FAQs, and even some user questions going back more than 5 years. While we like sites to be comprehensive, not all the info we found during our review was relevant or up to date.

Indeed, there are some articles mixed in that refer to different platforms altogether - run by High 5 Entertainment, the parent company of High 5 Casino. Basically, it could do with an upgrade.

Finally, in this section we’d like to shout out the Reality Check feature, which pops up every hour or so showing how long you have been logged in, and suggesting you might like to take a break.

It’s great to see a social gaming site putting their money where their mouth is, and going out of its way to promote mindful and healthy online gaming.

Final verdict: Would we play at High 5 Casino?

Absolutely. High 5 is definitely one of the strongest social or sweepstakes casinos we have reviewed, and there are lots of compelling reasons to choose it.

To start, there are some features - chiefly live dealer games - that you just can’t find on the vast majority of other sweeps sites. We’d put live chat support in a similar category. The range of slots is excellent, as is the general software and design of the site. The Diamond bonuses are a novel addition, and we are big fans of the Reality Check feature.

On the downside, the help section could do with a redesign. Plus, if you’re looking for a deep selection of table games, video poker and bingo, there are other sites that are ahead of High 5 in that area.

We’re certainly happy to recommend giving High 5 a try yourself.
