MURPHY, N.C. (WLOS) — The latest expansion at Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino & Hotel has reached new heights, with construction forging ahead on schedule.

The 12-story hotel addition has reached the 10th level, with sheer walls and columns prepped up to the 11th level. Interior framing is underway on levels one through six. The hotel is on track to be completed in late 2024.

Inside work on the casino expansion includes elevators and electrical systems. On the outside, work continues on the entry and parking. The new casino space is set to open in spring 2024.

Foundation work continues on the parking deck following the completion of the auger cast piles.

The expansion is comprised of three parts:

  • Growing the gaming floor by 25,000 square feet and adding a dedicated World Series of Poker (WSOP) – Poker Room,
  • A 296-room hotel tower with a 12,000 square-foot rooftop restaurant
  • A 1,300-space parking deck.

The casino floor, tentatively set for a spring 2024 opening, includes a 50 percent increase in the number of slot machines and table games. There will be 300 new slot machines, eight additional table games, a 10-table WSOP – Poker Room, a 22-seat casino center bar featuring nine tabletop gaming units, eight beer taps, bar top seating and lounge seating and an expanded 15-seat motorcoach lobby for bus patrons.

The new hotel tower will double the number of available guest rooms. Features include 296 additional rooms, an indoor pool, a fitness center, 9,600 square-foot full-service spa and salon, an expanded hotel lobby with upgraded hotel registration and retail space and a rooftop restaurant offering indoor or outdoor seating complete with breathtaking mountain views, 19-seat bar and wine cellar.
