Jackie Gaughan was a successful casino magnate in Las Vegas. He bought the El Cortez Hotel in 1963 and lived there with his wife Bertie until his death in 2014. Now, the hotel is renting out his penthouse to guests. The El cortez is located on the 15th floor of the Hotel. It is a modern, retro-looking building. The intercom system is clunky and the interiors are not. Gaugan sold the building in 2008, but he kept living in the pent house until he died.

Circa Resort & Casino is the first casino development downtown in 30 years. It's the tallest building north of the Strip at 35 stories and 458 feet. The 512-room resort was completed at the end of 2020. Derek Stevens and his brother Greg own The D and Golden Gate hotels and casinos downtown. They built the largest sportsbook in the world. Airport Slot Concession Inc has been operating at Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport for 36 years. It has recently surpassed its all-time revenue of $1 billion. The company has over 1,400 slot machines. They generate nearly $40 million in gross revenue each year. Many of the money stays at the airport. The airport's assistant director for business and commercial development says non-aviation revenue is beneficial as it helps to lessen the costs for air carriers.

The El Cortez Hotel & Casino has completed the renovation of its original 47 rooms. The renovation is the final piece of the $28 million property renovation that began in 2020. Vegas History Hallway will launch onsite. It will feature authentic images and information plaques.

The El Cortez casino in downtown Las Vegas will adopt a 21-and-older age limit for hotel guests and casino gamblers. The policy will begin April 1 for stays and identification checks will start later at all entrances. It comes as the property completes a $25 million casino floor redesign and the remodeling of its 200-room tower.
