Las Vegas (KSNV) — The Durango Casino and Resort is now open for all to enjoy.

The property opened its doors Tuesday morning to a large crowd.

The hotel boasts 200 rooms and 2300 slots, as well as fine dining and a large food court.

Visitors stopping by the casino for the first time also bragged about the sportsbook.

This Henderson resident says this won't be his last time heading to Durango.

"It was so fun," said Sherrod Sloan, a content creator who stopped by with his girlfriend to get a glimpse of the new property. "So amazing. It was really extra, super clean inside. Everything's obviously brand new. They have really cool slots. They had so many amazing restaurants. So, I was impressed by that. Like all-around really cool vibes."

Mike PeQueen, managing director of Hightower Las Vegas, says Durango could play a significant economic role in the southwest valley.

This is especially true with the Uncommons Development right across the street.

The spot that includes dining, entertainment, and housing opened up a few months ago, only adding to things to do for locals as more people continue to move in.

"What everybody wants to have is a village kind of lifestyle in a larger city," said PeQueen. "And when you get these kinds of significant amenities built within your neighborhood within two or three miles of where you live, that enhances your neighborhood that makes it more desirable. More people want to live there. So, the Durango property will bring quite a few good jobs and amenities like restaurants and other things that the residents can enjoy."

One Las Vegas resident can attest to that.

He says his wife is loving her new job at the property which has better hours and is closer to home.

"I think it's pretty good," said Rafael Sosa Hernandez. "I mean, before my wife was driving over 30 minutes. Now it's only seven minutes away from my house. So no traffic in this area or too much traveling. So, I think it's pretty good."

Opening night will also include a fireworks show at 9 p.m.
