A sorrowful incident unfolded in East Godavari district. Ernena Lakshminayudu, a young man from Srikakulam district, working in the quality control department of a factory in Yerravaram, Rajamahendravaram, Andhra Pradesh was lured to the world of online gambling, leaving his wife and children in distress.

As reported by The Times of India, married for less than three years, Lakshminayudu found himself captured in the world of online rummy, leading to a spiral of financial troubles. Last year, he borrowed a staggering Rs.6 lakhs, prompting intervention from his concerned father, Ramanaidu. The father managed to clear a portion of the debt, hoping to guide his son back on track. However, despite the rescue, Lakshminayudu persisted in his online gaming habits, leading to another debt of Rs.3 lakhs.

Ignoring the warnings, he resumed playing, causing further financial strain. On the morning of the 6th of this month, Lakshminayudu left home and did not return. His younger brother, Umamaheswara Rao, filed a complaint, prompting the Okato town police to initiate an investigation. The tragic outcome unfolded when the youth’s body was discovered on Thursday afternoon, the last phone tower location indicating proximity to Gammon Bridge.

The distressing incident highlights the dark consequences of unchecked online gaming habits, shedding light on the urgent need for awareness and intervention in such cases. The police have registered a case and commenced an investigation based on the complaint lodged by Poturaju Uma Maheswara Rao, the youngest son of the deceased. It is believed that Lakshminayudu took his own life, unable to share the disturbance he faced with his family. This incident serves as a moving reminder of the potential dangers associated with excessive online gaming.
