Detroit casinos brought in $105M in revenue in August

Detroit’s three casinos brought in nearly $105 million in revenue in July.

The total is a slight decrease of roughly 2% compared to the previous month, with most of the revenue coming from table games and slots. However, Motor City Casino, MGM Grand Detroit and Hollywood Casino at Greektown are still pacing ahead of 2022 with a combined $853.7 million in revenue year to date.
Sports betting at Detroit casinos have continued to decline in 2023. August’s revenue was $327,291 and $3.4 million for the year so far. The year to date total is down 68.4% compared to the same period last year.
Detroit casino revenue for August 2023:
- MGM Grand Detroit – $49.6 million
- Motor City Casino – $30.7 million
- Hollywood Casino – $24.4 million
The three casinos sent $16.5 million in wagering taxes and development agreement payments to the city of Detroit in August. An additional $8.5 million in tax revenue went to the state of Michigan.
