Cambodian government renews 70 licenses for casinos and gambling-oriented companies
70 licenses to casino and game of chance companies were renewed in the second quarter of this year. 47 casinos and 7 games of chances were granted licenses on Friday. 16 other licenses were already granted in early June this this years. The licenses are for businesses that had suspended their operations affected by the COVID-19 pandemic for about two years, but they are being renewed to reopen their business. The list of license renewal recipients shows that casinos are in provinces including Banteay Meanchey, Svay Rieng, Kampot, Pailin, Preah Sihanouk and Sokha Hotel Co.
Titan King Casino Hotel & Resort in Bavet City is in process of applying for renewal of its casino license to MEF. About 70% of casinos on the border area with Vietnam have completed renovation of their facilities after suffering destruction due to the lack of maintenance during the Covid-19 pandemic. Operators of the casinos in border areas, including Poipet and Baveset towns, have not applied to renew their licenses and needed to renovate the buildings due the poor maintenance.
