The monthly Online Game Performance Report, prepared by Eilers & Krejcik Gaming and Fantini Research, a duo of consulting research firms, is published for January and shows that blackjack is back at the top. One of the most popular card games was dethroned last month by baccarat, but according to the metrics used by EKG, blackjack is again the best-performing table game at . 

According to the January report, the crown for the first month of 2024 goes to Blackjack from software vendor IGT. The game is available at several operators in the Great Lakes State, such as BetRivers, Caesars Palace Online Casino, FanDuel, Golden Nugget, and WynnBET. Blackjack's popularity is evident, as six variants of this card game rank among the top 10 performing games in the Online Game Performance Report published by EKG. 

It's important to understand that this report is not a definitive analysis of the table games market in Michigan but is a good indication of current trends. The report is prepared with data provided voluntarily by 33 online casinos from across five U.S. markets with legal online casino gambling, including Michigan. The ranking of games is done with the Theo Win Index number, which is calculated by multiplying the house edge of a game with the total amount wagered on that game. Games with a higher theoretical index rank higher in the report.

Baccarat Is No Longer a Top 5 Game

Baccarat made a splash last month with Speed Baccarat occupying the top position in the ranking, but this month, baccarat is no longer among the top 5 games. Craps is still going strong, with two games in the best-performing five table games, while two blackjack titles have made the top tier, along with one roulette game, which ranks fourth. 

The situation among software vendors has not changed dramatically over the past month. Evolution Gaming, a premier provider of live dealer games, has contributed nine games in the top 25 table games in the Online Game Performance Report. IGT ranks second among the developers with eight titles, including the best-performing game Blackjack.

Further down the list, Light & Wonder appears to have four game titles. Gaming Realms has one title, while three games are produced internally, meaning they are in-house games of online casinos. In this latter category, the operators whose games are mentioned are Caesras and DraftKings, and both brands are increasingly developing in-house games. In fact, two of the top 5 table games are internal games.
