The Times News held its grand prize drawing for its annual bingo contest a few weeks ago.

Finalist Debbie Kintz was randomly drawn for the $1,000 prize by Times News Advertising Director Jen Benninger.

“We always have a great turnout,” Benninger said. “I don’t think people realize that’s how many cards we do get. Then we pick the 50 - and then during the livestream, we picked the winner.”

The contest started in September, while numbers were featured in the newspaper every day through Nov. 26.

Kintz, of Andreas, was surprised to be one of the 50 finalists - let alone win the drawing. She said she is going to put some of the winnings away and pay some bills with the rest.

“I’ve been playing for about two years,” Kintz said. “One year, my friend won it, but I never thought I would win.”

Benninger said over 700 cards were turned in during the contest. The drawing was streamed live on the Times News YouTube channel.

“We appreciate everyone for playing. People kept saying how much fun in it was and they love doing it - and we enjoy doing it,” Benninger said.

“We were virtual due to the pandemic. Hopefully next year, we don’t have to be, but time will tell.”
