UPDATE: Powerball Tickets Selling Today At Rate Of 160,000 Per Hour

As of 4:30 p.m., Michigan Lottery players have purchased more than 2.3 million tickets at retailers for tonight’s $1 billion Powerball jackpot, with roughly 1.7 million of those tickets bought today. On average, players have been buying about 160,000 tickets at retailers per hour today.

If a lucky player wins the $1 billion jackpot, it will be the second-largest Powerball jackpot ever won, and fifth-largest jackpot in U.S. lottery history. Tonight’s drawing will be the 38th Powerball drawing since the jackpot was last won Aug. 3. The cash option for tonight’s jackpot is $497 million.

There is a 9:45 p.m. deadline for players to buy tickets for tonight’s drawing at retailers and online at www.MichiganLottery.com.

Tonight’s Powerball jackpot is set at $1 BILLION! The cash option for the drawing is $497 million.

This is the second time in Powerball’s 30-year history that the advertised jackpot has reached $1 billion.

There are nine ways to win playing Powerball. In last Saturday’s Powerball drawing, players across the country won more than $38 million in cash prizes. In Michigan, two players won $1 million. Those winning tickets were bought at:

  • New Buffalo Shell, located at 18913 Laporte Road in New Buffalo
  • Billy’s Liquor Depot II, located at 27222 Grand River Avenue in Redford

Powerball tickets are available for purchase until 9:45 p.m. tonight at Lottery retailers throughout the state. Tickets also may be purchased online at MichiganLottery.com.

Lottery retailers earn a 6% commission on all Lottery sales, and a 2% cashing commission on all prizes players redeem at their location. If a Michigan retailer sells the jackpot winning ticket for tonight’s Powerball drawing, they will receive a $50,000 bonus commission.

To date, Powerball holds the world record for the largest jackpot set in 2016. The record $1.586 billion jackpot was shared by winners in California, Florida, and Tennessee.

WISCONSIN LOTTERY UPDATE:

On a day when treats are plentiful throughout the United States, the estimated Powerball jackpot has reached $1 billion for the Monday, October 31, 2022, drawing. If a player wins tonight’s jackpot, it will be the second largest jackpot in Powerball’s 30-year history and fifth largest jackpot in U.S. history.

During the weekend, Powerball players nationwide won more than $38 million in lower-level cash prizes including a $50,000 winning ticket sold in Wisconsin at the Home Front Travel Mart on 200 State Road 12 & 16 in Camp Douglas for the Saturday, October 29 drawing.

Other non-jackpot, weekend Powerball winners across the country included six tickets (CA-2, MD, MI-2, TX) that each won a $1 million prize and a ticket in Florida that won a $2 million prize. In addition to a win in Wisconsin, there were 80 tickets nationwide that won a $50,000 prize.

The next Powerball drawing will take place tonight at 9:59 p.m. CT. Powerball tickets are $2 per play. Powerball drawings are Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. Tickets must be purchased before 9 p.m. to be included in that day’s drawing.

The odds of winning the $1 million Powerball prize are 1 in 11,688,054. The odds of winning a $50,000 prize are 1 in 913,130. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.
