With no one snaring division one tonight, Powerball has skyrocketed to a colossal $80 million for next Thursday’s draw – the equal biggest Australian lottery jackpot offered to players this year.

For the fifth Powerball draw in a row, no entry held all seven winning numbers and the crucial Powerball number needed to secure division one.

While no player walked away with the multi-million-dollar jackpot this week, a total of 1,874,111 prizes worth more than $33.4 million were won in divisions two to nine. This included four division two winners who each took home $231,561.65.

The Lott spokesperson Ally Ramsamy said an $80 million prize had only been up for grabs twice before in 2021.

“We last saw an $80 million Powerball draw in April and August of this year and on both occasions the massive jackpot was won,” she said.

“In April this year, two New South Wales players shared the $80 million prize, walking away with $40 million each.

“And then in August, a North Melbourne dad scooped up $80 million when he held the only division one winning entry in that draw. He officially became Victoria’s biggest lottery winner and the country’s third biggest winner.

“If one person scores the $80 million jackpot next Thursday night, they will also share the title of Australia’s third-biggest lottery winner.

“Imagine how exciting it would be to be crowned the next Powerball division one winner right in time for Christmas! That mammoth prize would certainly allow you to play by your own rules.”

With $80 million up for grabs, Ms Ramsamy explained up to one-in-four Australian adults were expected to have an entry into next week’s Powerball draw.

“We’re nearing the end of 2021, and everyone is dreaming about what they might do in 2022 with a massive Powerball prize. As a result, we’re expecting it to be busy both online and in-store leading up to the draw,” she said.

“We encourage customers to not only get in early to purchase their entries, but also to register those entries so their prizes are secure, and we can contact them directly after the draw with the life-changing news.

“Tickets can be purchased at any licenced lottery outlet, online from thelott.com or via The Lott mobile app.”

The winning numbers in Powerball draw 1332 on Thursday 25 November 2021 were 21, 17, 16, 3, 22, 34 and 9. The all-important Powerball number was 9.

In the 12 months to 30 June 2021, 17 Powerball division one winners across Australia pocketed more than $519.8 million in prize money.

During this time, Powerball twice offered an $80 million jackpot – the biggest prize offered by any Australian lottery game.

Of the 17 Powerball division one winning entries in FY21, 10 landed in New South Wales, five in Queensland and two in Victoria.

Tickets can be purchased at any licenced lottery outlet, online from thelott.com or via The Lott mobile app.
