Revenue up at Hollywood Casino York last year, tops $100M

Buoyed by gains in slot machine and sports wagering revenue, Hollywood Casino York saw a 6.9% increase in overall revenue for 2023.

The Springettsbury Township casino brought in $100.4 million in 2023, up from the $93.9 million brought in during 2022, an increase of $6.4 million, according to figures from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.

Sports wagering had the highest percentage increase in revenue, bringing 16% more revenue. The casino, located in a former Sears department store in the York Galleria mall, brought in just over $3.4 million in 2023, more than the $2.9 million brought in in 2022.

Retail slot revenue was also up for the year at Hollywood Casino York, rising 11% from 2022. Slots brought in $80.3 million during 2023, compared to $72.3 million in 2022.

Table game revenue was down 10.6% at Hollywood Casino York for 2023. Table games brought in just $16.6 million compared to $18.5 million in 2022.

The report of an overall increase in revenue in 2023 for Hollywood Casino York comes on the heals of a report of a 4.75% increase in revenue for December when compared to the same month in 2022.

Hollywood Casino York brought in $9.03 million in December 2023 compared to $8.6 million in the same month the year before.

The increase in December revenue was spurred by increases in table game and sports wagering revenue. Table game revenue was up 24% and sports wagering revenue was up 33%.

Hollywood Casino York brought in just over $584,000 in sports wagering revenue compared to just over $439,000 in 2022.

Table games brought in just over $1.5 million in revenue compared to just over $1.2 million in 2022.

Slot revenue was down slightly in December. Hollywood York Casino brought in just over $6.8 million, down from the $6.9 million in 2022.

December revenue was up statewide. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board reported that the combined total revenue generated from all forms of gaming, along with fantasy contests, during December was $534,215,808, an increase of 12.47% compared to revenue generated in December 2022.

Pennsylvania brought in a record amount of gambling revenue overall for 2023. Fueled by a nearly 28% increase in iGaming revenue over the previous year, revenue was up 9.3% in 2023, going from $5.2 billion to $5.6 billion.

The resulting tax revenue of $2,343,399,312 generated in 2023 through gambling was also a record, besting the $2,123,019,992 generated in 2022. Tax revenue figures reflect amounts generated prior to any adjustments by the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue.
