Resident Evil Village Could Benefit From Slot Machine Mechanics
Super Slots

What I’m talking about is a slots game or something similar. Resident Evil has never been known for its mini-games as a franchise, but this entry is such a big departure that it could mix things up. Capcom outlined that the game has a Mercenaries mode during the latest showcase, which is vastly different from the base game. There’s also RE:Verse, a confusing multiplayer element included with every copy of the game. These more than justify the existence of slot mechanics in any form, but there are two that I think would best fit the game.

The first place that slot mechanics would work is with The Duke. He’s the game’s merchant, allowing players to purchase upgrades for Ethan Winters and his weapons. Players can also sell goods they pick up in the world, though it’s possible to earn in-game currency just by killing enemies. The Duke is a monstrous character in a very different sense to the enemies of the rest of the game. He’s greedy to the point that he’s massively overweight and collects everything in sight. He can’t help himself. He should offer something along the lines of the best online casino ideal. A range of mini-games that players can choose from to earn powerful in-game items. It would act as a great tool for using up all the currency you’ve earned and offer everyone the chance to pick up powerful weapons early. Even if it were purely restricted to Mercenaries mode, the added tension of spending all your cash on the chance to win an end game item would feel great.

The other way that these mechanics would make sense in Resident Evil Village is as puzzles. Resident Evil is known for its mind-bending puzzles that seem straightforward at first but actually require quite a lot of thought once you start to look into them. A puzzle that focuses on lining up a correct sequence across multiple slot machines would fit with the formula and add to the bizarre design of this latest game’s location. Castle Dimitrescu is ancient, and the village that stands before it looks even more so. However, as we’ve learned from previous games, villains have the strangest tastes. Any one of the colorful villains in Resident Evil Village could have a penchant for casinos and slot machines. It would make total sense for them then to import as many as they could. Even more, if they used them to hide a secret weapon, that’s the key to killing them.
