The online gamblers of Phnom Penh have one less place in the capital to indulge their vice after authorities clamped down on a gambling den yesterday.

Yesterday, Sok Penh Vuth, Governor of Daun Penh District, assigned Mr. Chap Dina, Daun Penh District Administration Director, to lead a joint force to inspect a location at 51Eo-53Eo, Street 70, Sangkat Srah Chak, Khan Daun Penh, which was suspected of hosting illegal gambling, after receiving reports from people living nearby on the evening of June 9.

Mr. Sok Penh Vuth added that when the team arrived, they found that the above location was open for internet business and there were many people present.

As a result, the Khan Unity Command confiscated suspicious materials and stored them at Daun Penh District Hall.

The team also closed the location by not allowing the Internet business.

If the district authority inspects again and finds that there is gambling activity, then the authority will implement administrative measures by detaining people and building a case to send to court for legal action.
