Gateway Cascades Casino will open its doors to the public March 9 at 5 p.m.

Rob Mitchell, communications and public affairs officer with Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Limited, confirmed it will be a soft opening.

A larger grand opening with dignitaries and media will be held at a later date.

He said he expects a large turnout next week.

The casino, located off Pinewood Park Drive, was originally scheduled to open in 2020. Ground was broken in 2019.

Construction was derailed due to COVID-19, however construction resumed in April.

Mitchell said Gateway has hired 170 people for a variety of roles at the North Bay casino and hiring is still taking place.

The casino is equipped with six gaming tables, roulette and blackjack, 10 electronic tables and 300 slot machines.

Match Eatery & Public House will serve as a family restaurant and then night club and sports club at night.

Mitchell said the club will also feature PPV sorting events and NFL games.

“It will be a great place to watch sports.”

He said the restaurant will feature a patio that will offer a misting system during the hot summer days and outdoor heaters in the cooler months.
