Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Communication and Informatics is involving communities to bolster government efforts to eradicate online gambling practices.Communication and Informatics Minister Budi Arie Setiadi stated that one of the communities that have been actively supporting efforts to eradicate online gambling is the Siberkreasi community."In handling online gambling, we are also working with communities, such as Siberkreasi. They are present to improve people's digital literacy. Their goal is to make Indonesia's digital space healthy. Thus, they provide digital literacy, including discussing the harm of online gambling," he remarked here, Friday. He noted that in conducting their digital literacy activities, Siberkreasi teaches skills that can be implemented and used to make people productive.Four pillars used as a basis in digital literacy classes are digital skills, digital culture, digital ethics, and digital security."The essence of our activities with the community is that we want the digital space to make people productive. Thus, productive elements must be developed in the digital space and also involve all of society," he stated. In addition to working with communities, the ministry has been seriously handling online gambling by cooperating with digital platforms to remove online gambling-related content.Large digital platforms have also used artificial intelligence (AI).Setiadi noted that one of the forms of AI utilization by digital platforms in eradicating online gambling is removing keywords related to online gambling.Earlier, on Friday (October 20), the Ministry of Communication and Informatics reported that from July 18 to October 18, 2023, it had cut off access to 425,506 items of online gambling as part of the efforts to eradicate online gambling in Indonesia.Although it has been handled through efforts ranging from cutting off access to taking legal action, Setiadi believes that stronger collaboration with the community is still needed, so that online gambling can be eradicated in Indonesia."The role of the community in promoting anti-online gambling in the surrounding environment is highly needed," he remarked.
