Montana Gunhus was beaten at Isle Casino in Waterloo, Iowa in January 2021. His attorneys were seeking $2m in compensation from the casino. The jury awarded him $1.7m on Monday afternoon.

Damond Williams beat up Gunhus at Isle Casino in Waterloo. Gunus found a players club card in a slot machine belonging to Williams' wife. Williams used $100 worth of the card's fan play credits. The casino is liable as it did not keep Gun Hus and Williams separate during the investigation.

The casino claims that the attacker should be liable for Gunhus' injuries. The casino believes that Gunus was also at fault because he was using the players card of Williams' wife. Williams was not part of the case, but he is facing criminal charges.
