VALLEY FORGE PA – A 45-year-old Lancaster woman who allegedly carried a backpack containing suspected drugs into the Valley Forge Casino Resort, and then left it behind at a slot machine, has been arrested by Pennsylvania State Police from the Troop K Barracks in Skippack. She is expected to be charged with drug possession and related offenses, troopers reported Monday (Aug. 2, 2021).

The unattended backpack had been turned over – presumably by another patron – Saturday (July 31) at 3:47 a.m. to security personnel at the resort, 1160 First Ave. Security checked the contents, found what it believed were drugs, and notified troopers on duty at the casino on behalf of the state Bureau of Gaming Enforcement.

The drugs, troopers said, “tested positive for methamphetamine.”

Their next task, they added, “was to locate the owner of the backpack.” They found her, they said, using casino surveillance equipment, and took her into custody.

Slot machine damage

In a separate and unrelated public information report released Monday, state police said they were investigating damage to a slot machine that was discovered on the casino floor. Troopers indicated they were treating it as a possible case of criminal mischief involving a value of $1,000 or less. No details were offered. There was no indication suspects, if any, had yet been identified.
