Thursday, Sept. 28 will be a busy day in Caledonia — not only will it be the first day of the Caledonia Fair, but it will also be the next instalment in the town’s Catch the Ace progressive jackpot fundraiser, which now has an estimated jackpot of $103,000.

It was confirmed at the Sept. 21 draw that despite rumours around town, the weekly draw to benefit the Community Support Centre Haldimand-Norfolk would be going ahead if the elusive ace of spades wasn’t caught that night. Soon after that, Tonya Carter’s ticket was pulled from the drum, and her choice of envelope No. 40 revealed the king of clubs. This netted her 20 per cent of the week’s ticket sales, for a total of $4,744. The guaranteed jackpot now sits at $95,698.
