Elks bingo returning March 8

Hello and good week everyone! I hope your last week was enjoyable even though the temperatures dropped drastically for a few days. Thankfully it is getting warmer again. Our weather has been strange this year. I wanted to use my article this week to send out my condolences to Ukraine. What is currently happening in Ukraine right now is devastating and I am so sad to see what the people of Ukraine are enduring. I think in the current times of COVID-19 and the constant battle between opposing forces I feel as though this situation really puts into perspective what matters. COVID-19 has been hard, however as a province and especially in our community we were able to stay connected through social media and never had to worry about the lack of communication. Our businesses were able to keep running and our students had a pretty flawless transition to online education. All of this seemed like such a huge deal however. And now that we see families being ripped apart from one another I feel that this shows everyone just how important it is to be thankful and appreciate where we live and the people we are surrounded by. I know this isn’t directly affecting our community however it affects our world which is why I felt that it was a necessary topic. Having said that onto the community news.

Some great news is that with some lifting of more COVID-19 restrictions the Elks Bingo will be returning on Tuesday, March 8th. Bingo is something that our community really enjoys so it will be nice to have it up and running again. They will be picking up from where they left off after having to shut down two years ago in March 2020. The starting Bonus Ball was at $41.00, Jackpots: Junior Bonanza in 49 numbers $250.00, Last chance Bonanza in 56 Numbers $263.00.  They also added an early bird game called the “Double Dab”. This will be played before the start of the regular bingo at 8:00 p.m.

We are looking forward to seeing the regular players once again and meeting new players who want a social evening out and maybe a chance to win a few dollars.

So we talked about politics but I ended it with some fun news about our bingo. It only feels right to end this column off with a bingo joke. “I invited a blind bingo caller to my dinner party”… “He’s not a close friend, he’s just there to make up the numbers”. That was pretty cheesy but I laughed, so maybe you will too.

I hope you all have a wonderful week!
