Durango Casino & Resort Readies to Open in Las Vegas

The Durango Casino & Resort will open its doors in southwest Las Vegas next month. Taking cues from the warm hues and vibrant landscapes that define the desert, the property is an interplay of stone-clad floors and walls, texture, light, and neutral tones.

Seamlessly attached to the lobby, the lobby bar and lounge is a hidden gem of cozy nooks and modern seating areas designed by Los Angeles-based Avenue Interior Design. Drawing inspiration from global travels and the earthy tones of the surrounding landscape, the lounge exudes sophistication and softness. The space is anchored by gilded alcoves, hand-painted banana leaf wallpaper, and an undulating brass pendant that suspends as a centerpiece over the bar. Lush plantings both inside and outside on a covered patio add a tropical touch.

The guestrooms—designed by Dallas-based Looney & Associates—are cocooned in warm, neutral tones, with a tapestry of textures and premium finishes. Each accommodation boasts floor-to-ceiling windows with sweeping views of the city’s skyline or mountainscape. Meanwhile, suites feature walls adorned with texture-rich art, hand-carved stone selections, dramatic lighting, and custom rugs and furniture.

Durango also features a 25,000-square-foot food hall, dubbed Eat Your Heart Out. Spearheaded by Hatch Design Group, the design of the dining space—which includes LA staple Irv’s Burgers and New York’s Prince Street Pizza, as well as local favorites like Shang Artisan Noodle—brings together greenery, contemporary finishes, dine-in and counter-seating options, along with an outdoor patio.
