Croupiers in Montreal Casino Begin Unlimited Strike Action
Montreal Casino croupiers have started their unlimited general strike action on Saturday. They are protesting poor working conditions and cutbacks on salaries. Union representative Jean-Pierre Proulx said half of the croups have experienced physical injuries as a result of their work at the casino.
Croupiers at Montreal Casino are on strike. The poker lounge is not open. However, the slot machines, restaurants, shows and gaming tables are operating as usual. Loto-Quebec, operator of the Montreal casino, expresses its disappointment at the strike but assures customers that regular operations will continue.
Croupiers in Montreal Casino have started a strike action. They want 30 minutes of paid break for each hour worked. Loto-Quebec wants to reduce the starting salary by 10%, to CA$17.44 per hour from CA $18.40. The union representative believes the salary drop is irresponsible.
