BGO licence suspended

Online gambling operator BGO Entertainment has seen its licence suspended with immediate effect by the Cambling Commission over concerns that the company may have breached conditions of the Gambling Act 2005.

Specifically, the Gambling Commission has authorised the suspension process under Section 118 (2) of the Act, which allows it to suspend an operator’s licence if it considers that “activities have been carried on in a manner which is inconsistent with the licensing objectives.”

In its statement on the suspension, the Gambling Commission said that “Failure to protect consumers was a key consideration in the suspension decision.”

The statement added: “We have made it clear to the operator that during the course of the suspension, we expect it to focus on treating customers fairly and keeping them fully informed of any developments which impact them.”

The latest suspension is not BGO’s first run-in with the regulatory body. Last year, it was found to have committed a series of failures including not adequately monitoring customers’ activities for signs of problem gambling. As a result, BGO was forced to pay £2m and accept restrictions imposed on its licence.

A statement posted on all BGO sites says that the operator is “working with the Gambling Commission to resolve this situation quickly”.

Users of BGO sites will still be able to access their accounts to withdraw money despite the suspension. The team at BGO Entertainment can be contacted with any queries through their websites.

The sites operated by BGO Entertainment, and so now inaccessible, are BGO, Power Spins, Vegas Luck and Chilli. If you’ve been affected by the suspension then you might want to check out our list of the best bingo sites and tips for choosing a new bingo site.
