Few restaurant categories are as revered or classically American as the delicatessen. But even though deli food is universally appreciated, it’s a cuisine and a type of restaurant that has gradually become harder to find across the country. In Las Vegas, authentic delicatessens or deli-style diners may have been more abundant in the past, but the cuisine is well-represented today on and off the Strip by a handful of exciting new eateries and some established favorites.

A few years ago, Bellagio replaced its popular around-the-clock café with the even more popular Sadelle’s (702.693.7075), a Vegas version of the celebrated New York City original. It’s one of the best places on the Strip for satisfying breakfast dishes like eggs benedict, a New York-style bacon, egg and cheese sandwich, bagels and lox and much more. Just south on the Boulevard at New York-New York, you can find a more casual East Coast experience at Greenberg’s Deli (702.740.6944), a Strip sandwich favorite for years. Go with the corned beef or pastrami on rye and don’t forget the pickle.

If you’ve recently returned to Las Vegas for business purposes and attended a convention or meeting at the grand new Las Vegas Convention Center West Hall expansion, you’ve probably already discovered Siegel’s Bagelmania (702.369.3322). This is a new take on a beloved locals’ favorite, a traditional Jewish deli with some of the best bagels and schmears in town and a massive menu that also includes bagel sandwiches, classic deli fare like hot pastrami and smoked whitefish, soups, salads and desserts.

When you visit Saginaw’s Delicatessen (702.726.5506) at downtown’s action-packed Circa Resort & Casino, it might be hard to believe this place is less than a year old. Its friendly confines and throwback menu makes it feel like the vintage deli where everyone in the neighborhood meets for breakfast or lunch on a weekly basis. The must-order sandwich at this 24-hour eatery is the Royal Flush Reuben, stacked with corned beef, Swiss and sauerkraut, but there are so many other delicious dishes—vanilla-cinnamon French toast, steak and eggs, matzo ball soup—you may have to come back for another meal the next day.

There are few restaurants anywhere in the Vegas Valley that have been packed with customers day in and day out for as long as Bagel Café (702.255.3444), a New York-style experience located just off Summerlin Parkway. This family-owned and operated establishment has been taking care of neighbors since 1996 with fresh baked breads, bagels and pastries, big-portion breakfast plates, stacked savory sandwiches, smoked fish platters and so much more.
