Gov. Andrew Cuomo wants to see legal online sports betting in New York State in 2021. The New Yorkers State Gaming Commission will issue a request for proposals seeking a sports better. The commission will choose a provider that could introduce the offering in a safe manner. It will be the responsibility of the commission to choose the provider.
Gov. Cuomo wants to see a lottery-run model of the local online sports betting market. It would require a constitutional amendment that comes with a vote. If it passes, it could launch in 2023. The proposal is expected to be discussed at Cuomo's State of State on January 11.
