Coda Labs has published the Global Web3 Gamer Study. It is the most ambitious study to-date of gamers’ feelings about web3. 7,000 people from the UK, US, Brazil, Japan and South Africa were surveyed.
According to Coda Labs, gamers don't perceive any benefits to web3 gaming. Even those with web2 knowledge are wary of financial costs and scams. However, regular gamers do give web 3 games a go and feel more positively. Crypto Gamers are hardcore gamers who are also early tech adopters.
The Global Web3 Gamer Study shows that the Web 3 gaming industry is still a nascent industry. The first attempts at creating Web.3 games have raised awareness but not defined the business model that will be the next industry standard yet.
The Global Web3 Gamer Study found that Gamers are aware of cryptocurrency and NFTs, but generally don't like them. Only 12% of Gamer have tried playing a web3 game and only 15% are interested in doing so. 41% were unsure as to how web 3 gaming would work, and 32% worried about scams and financial costs. Crypto Gamering is a different matter. Most of them are hardcore players. They play more competitively and on more platforms than regular GamERS.
Gamers are aware of Bitcoin and NFTs, but they don't like them.
