Weekly ticket purchase leads to Grand Rapids man winning $25K a year for life

LANSING, MI -- A Grand Rapids man has plenty of reason to celebrate after he won a jackpot worth $25,000 a week for the rest of his life, playing the Michigan Lottery’s Lucky for Life game. Adam Warner, 44, won his prize by matching all five white balls drawn -- 17-25-30-37-39 -- for the April 8 drawing.
“I buy a Lucky for Life ticket online every Thursday, so every Friday morning I check my numbers before heading to work,” Warner said. “When I logged in the morning after the drawing and saw the prize notification, I couldn’t help but stare at the screen for a few minutes amazed. I called my boss right away and took the day off to celebrate.”
Warner visited lottery headquarters in Lansing recently to claim his prize. He elected to receive the money as a one-time lump sum payment of approximately $390,000 rather than the annuity of $25,000 a year for 20 years or the rest of his life, whichever is greater.
With his winnings, Warner plans on paying bills and saving the remainder.
