Troopers Investigate Alleged Casino Voucher Theft

KING OF PRUSSIA PA – A suspect is being pursued by Pennsylvania State Police from the Troop K Barracks in Skippack, in what troopers allege is a case of theft by unlawful taking that occurred Sept. 19 (2021; Sunday) at 6:20 a.m. at the Valley Forge Casino Resort, 1160 1st Ave. The victim, they added, is a 50-year-old man from Harleysville.
The victim was playing a slot machine inside the casino when he was approached by the suspect, a stranger, who was not identified by name. The stranger “introduced himself to the victim and began small talk,” according to a public information release distributed Sunday (Sept. 26) from Troop K. Its troopers are on duty at the casino on behalf of the Pennsylvania Bureau of Gaming Enforcement.
The chatty suspect “then distracted the victim” and in the process allegedly took the Harleysville man’s casino “voucher valued at $385.03. After gaining possession of the voucher, the suspect cashed it out and departed the casino,” the release added.
Troopers apparently have leads in the case. They said an investigation is continuing, and that charges of theft were being prepared for filing against the suspect in the Bridgeport courtroom of Montgomery County Magisterial District Justice James P. Gallagher.
Counterfeit bill investigated
Also at the casino, troopers said they are looking into an allegedly counterfeit bill that was used Saturday (Sept. 25) at 9:30 a.m. in a gaming device and found by slot technicians.
Troopers said they interviewed the victim, a 70-year-old man from Norristown, who said he “did not know how exactly he obtained the bill.” The denomination was not mentioned.
