Island Resort & Casino in Michigan completed a $33 million expansion. The project includes 128 new guest rooms and suites, a high-end steakhouse with stunning views, and a water park. It is the third expansion in three years. The expansion was announced in January 2020. There is a waiting list of 100 to 150 people every weekend. A new sportsbook is expected to be completed by the beginning of May. Space that was used as the property’s steak house is being converted into a food court. Island Resort is now the largest hotel north of Milwaukee.

Island Resort & Casino was one of the first gaming venues in the U.S. to reopen in May 2020. The expansion project was ahead of schedule. It included 10 new luxury suites, 8 Golf Suites, Horizons Steakhouse and Splash Island. The resort is home to two of Michigan's top golf courses and hosted 33,000 rounds combined last year. Mancilla credits his marketing team and the support of Potawatomi Indian Tribe for the success of his resort. He says it has grown 8% per year the last seven years.
