A judge ordered The Star in Sydney to pay a disabled gambler AU$285,000 for disputed 2019 jackpot.
The Star casino in Sydney has to pay AU$285,000 (US$195,910) to David Joe. Joe has a motor neuron disease and asked his friend Lois Lie to help him operate The Star's gambling machines. Lie won a big jackpot on Joe's behalf. The casino refused to give him the money, citing a voluntary exclusion order. A judge ruled that the order did not apply.
The Star Sydney avoided a gambler's attempt to win back the AU$950,000 she had lost in a session. Kim Nguyen's lawsuit against The Star was tossed out of court.
