In Centre County, plans to build a new casino have been slowed, and as Gary Sinderson reports.

An upcoming court hearing could also have an impact on the project’s future development.

The casino was targeted for the former Macy’s store area at the Nittany Mall, Bally’s, in partnership with Penn State alum Ira Lubert is heading the project, after Lubert

had the winning bid in a Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board auction for what’s termed a mini casino.

What’s still pending is the board’s license approval for a casino.

It was envisioned construction would be well underway by now, but a rival casino operator challenged the auction process and filed suit in Commonwealth court.

But Lubert and the board have responded to nine allegations of not following auction procedures. A court hearing on that legal challenge isn’t scheduled until early March.

According to the developers. The 120 million dollar casino will include slot machines, table games and sports betting.

Along with a restaurant and bar, 350 to 400 employees would work there, with the casino’s revenue projected to be nearly $100 million a year.
