Singapore's Ministry of Home Affairs is calling for feedback on proposed amendments to gambling laws. The changes cover social gambling, online games and claw machines. It also proposes to raise penalties for repeat offenders and amend the definition of gambling. This comes after the ministry said it will set up a new gambling regulator by 2021. It will also review and update gambling legislation within the same period. According to the MHA, gambling-related crimes remain low. Problem gambling rates have remained stable. Social gambling is also considered to be socially acceptable. In Australia and Switzerland, such practices are considered legal.
