Put this date on your calendar immediately—the Las Vegas Pizza Festival is set to return on November 12 at the Industrial Event Space, near Sahara and I-15. The event went on hiatus during the pandemic but now it’s back, thanks to the Las Vegas Pizza Alliance and Greco and Sons. Acclaimed pizza makers including Tony Gemignani, John Arena, Vincent Rotolo and many others are expected to return, and tickets go on sale July 4 at vegaspizzafest.com.
Celebrity chef David Chang’s Majordomo Meat & Fish and Moon Palace restaurants at Palazzo have closed. Majordomo’s Instagram account posted: “With our partners at the Venetian Resort Las Vegas, we have decided to close … . We remain committed to Las Vegas and look forward to sharing information soon about our future.” Majordomo opened in late 2019 in the former Carnevino space while the casual Moon Palace opened shortly after that.
Served Global Dining in Henderson is currently closed for a remodel expected to last approximately six weeks, with reopening targeted for mid-July. Catering orders are still available and can be made by calling 702-272-0839.
Top Round has opened at the Park on the Las Vegas Strip, a Los Angeles-born restaurant known for slow-roasted beef sandwiches. The new restaurant takes the space of the former Bruxie chicken and waffles spot between New York-New York and Park MGM, and it’s open Sunday through Thursday from noon until 10 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from noon until 11 p.m.
Metro Pizza’s award-winning pizzaiolo Chris Decker has been selected as one of a dozen finalists in the fourth annual Real California Pizza Contest, which will culminate in a Facebook Live bakeoff on June 22. The California Milk Advisory Board invited professional chefs and accredited culinary students to submit their best pizza recipes in three categories, and the finalists will travel to Napa, California, for the bake-off to determine the winning recipe in each category and a grand prize winner.
Siegel’s Bagelmania might feel new at its big restaurant location near the Las Vegas Convention Center, but the restaurant is celebrating its 33rd birthday this weekend. The all-day June 12 event will include giveaways, face painters, balloon artists, entertainment from a Frank Sinatra impersonator, photo opportunities with showgirls and a special bagel giveaway.
Atomic Liquors turns 70 years old this month and is planning a weekend celebration set for June 17-19. Among the offerings at the venerable Fremont Street bar will be $3 PBRs, $5 Bloody Marys, half-price sour beers for Sour Saturday, and other drink and food specials.
Libertine Social and master mixologist Tony Abou-Ganim are teaming up for a whiskey-focused cocktail class—just in time for Father’s Day—at the Mandalay Bay restaurant on June 21. The next installment of Oscar’s Dinner Series at Oscar’s Steakhouse at the Plaza is set for June 29 at 6 p.m., when our former mayor and mob attorney will discuss the decidedly unappetizing topic of bodies found in Lake Mead and other Tony Spilotro-related issues, complemented by a three-course meal paired with red and white wines and the signature Oscar Goodman martini. Caviar Bar at Resorts World has launched Sunday brunch, available Sundays from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Menu offerings include crab cake Benedict, smoked salmon tartare with trout roe and yuzu dressing, Jamon Benedict, and the salmon burger with avocado and French fries. Bottomless mimosas and specialty cocktails are also part of the brunch fun.
Koibito Poké is scheduled to open its first Las Vegas location in August at 4870 Blue Diamond Road #150. Concept co-founder and CEO Todd Stottlemyre, former Major League Baseball pitcher and three-time World Series champion, is a graduate of UNLV. The 1,200-square-foot location will feature similar design elements as the four locations in Arizona.
Emerald Island Grille at Emerald Island Casino on Water Street has expanded its menu to include more breakfast specials, Sunday brunch, Steak House Saturdays, Barbecue Wednesdays and more. New late-night and early morning specials available from 11 p.m. until 7 a.m. include a fresh avocado scramble, the chili verde burrito and the slow-smoked brisket taco basket, and new breakfast dishes include smoked hot links and eggs and the California omelet. On Wednesday nights between 4 and 10 p.m., guests can enjoy meats from the Ole Hickory Championship smoker, and on Saturdays there are three-course dinner entrees featuring charbroiled steaks with soup or salad, vegetables, choice of potato and dessert.
Grimaldi’s Pizzeria locations around the Valley are offering new seasonal dishes for summer, including barbecue chicken pizza with Sweet Baby Ray’s barbecue sauce, blueberry or strawberry cheesecake, and the Strawberry Lemonade Smash cocktail.
