Some players in last week’s $50 million Powerball may have incorrectly believed they’d won big after it was revealed one wrong number was initially displayed on the Lott’s website and app.

A resident on the NSW Mid North Coast was the lucky winner of the only division one winning entry in Powerball draw 1384 last Thursday, with the numbers: 14, 6, 9, 25, 27, 31 and 33 and the Powerball number 15.

However, it’s now been confirmed by the Lott that one of the numbers initially posted online was wrong.

The results initially claimed the first winning number was 16 instead of the correct winning number 14.

If someone had the sequence of numbers initially posted, they would have incorrectly thought they won $50 million when instead they actually won the division three prize for getting six numbers and the Powerball number.

The 29 winners in this division took home $5,167.60 a piece - not quite $50 million.

Confirming the bungle to 7NEWS.com.au, a spokesperson from The Lott said: “On 24 November 2022, one of the winning numbers drawn in Powerball draw 1384 was incorrectly displayed on our website and app for a period of about two minutes after about 8.10pm (Qld time)“.

The mistake was brought to light when a caller informed 3AW and provided evidence of the mix-up.

“The Powerball numbers were given on the Lotto app and 16 minutes later when I updated to see how many winners there was, there was one winner (and) one of the numbers had actually changed from 16 to 14,” the caller said.

After several failed attempts to get into contact with the $50 million Powerball winner, officials were finally able to locate the new millionaire on Monday.

According to The Lott, the winner was still coming to terms with their life-changing prize.

“How they choose to enjoy their prize will remain a mystery as they have chosen to remain completely anonymous and celebrate their life-changing win in private,” The Lott said in a statement.

Alongside the division one winning entry, $29 million was also won across divisions two to nine.
