It is the fourth biggest jackpot offered by any Australian lottery game so far this year, and the biggest Powerball jackpot in three months.

One in six Australian adults is expected to have an entry in the draw, after the division one prize grew after no-one won the past three draws.

The Lott spokesperson Matt Hart said: “Powerball has been on a winning streak this year.

“There have already been more Powerball division one wins so far in 2022 than there were during 2019, 2020 or 2021.”

While every person gambling on their entry has the chance to win, Lottery officials say some winning trends have emerged.

So what exactly makes a winning entry?

Hart said if one person snagged the division one prize on Thursday, they would win the third-biggest Australian lottery prize in 2022.

The expert shared three trends that have emerged this year, highlighting the common details in division one winning entries. They are:

QuickPicks - While your lucky numbers may work magic for you, two-thirds of this year’s Powerball winners have opted for entries where numbers are randomly chosen at the lottery terminal.

PowerHit - These are a unique Powerball entry that guarantees the all-important Powerball number you need to win division one. “About a quarter of the year’s Powerball division one winning entries have been PowerHit entries,” Hart said.

Hot numbers - The most frequently drawn winning number from the main barrel is 19, followed by 17, 9, 2 and 7.

Cold numbers - The least frequently drawn is 18, followed by 33, 31, 34 and 6.

Lottery officials encourage entrants to register their entry online, otherwise a lost ticket is as good as gone.

It comes after last week’s $50 million Oz Lotto win was unclaimed for several days.

“If you win the jackpot, you’ll want to know immediately,” Hart said.

“By registering your entry, we’ll be able to reach out to you straight after the draw to confirm the life-changing news.”
