Playtech has today announced the signing of a new strategic partnership with Canadian online casino and sports wagering company, NorthStar.

Within the terms of the contract, Playtech will provide its IMS platform for use across all of NorthStar Gaming's platforms.

Michael Moskowitz, Founding Partner and CEO of NorthStar Gaming, said: “NorthStar Gaming is thrilled to be the exclusive Canadian partner in the media and publishing sector with Playtech, the world's leading gambling technology supplier.

"Playtech's industry-leading suite of tools will give us an unmatched edge in the marketplace, given our proprietary content and localisation; something we know consumers are looking for.”

Despite agreeing on terms, the two companies are now awaiting regulatory and licensing approvals before implementing the relevant gaming software.

This partnership comes just weeks after the launch of Playtech’s live casino facilities in two states within the US. Its intention is to next expand into other international markets.

Playtech CEO Mor Weizer said: “We are delighted to announce our partnership with NorthStar Gaming as it prepares to launch its market leading online gaming business in Canada.

"Our success is driven by strategic partnerships with industry-leading operators around the world and we are excited to partner with a leading entertainment company like NorthStar Gaming.”

As well as this latest agreement, Playtech is in the process of finalising an agreement with Aristocrat Leisure, an Australian slot machine maker, for £2.7bn ($3.66bn). It is currently waiting for shareholder approval, unless of course Eddie Jordan's JKO Play can win the bidding war instead.
