BENSALEM, PA — Parx Casino in Bensalem was closed 125 days in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic and the year's receipts showed it.

Revenues at the casino plummeted by more than $172 million compared to the previous year, according to figures released Tuesday by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.

In 2020, Parx, at 2999 Street Rd. in Bensalem, brought in about $462.1 million, the board reported. That's down from the roughly $634.5 million it brought in in 2019.

Those losses came on slot machines and table games, which were both down about 38 percent at Parx, according to the gaming board. And they came in spite of revenue increases on sports gambling (up 37 percent) and internet gaming, which brought in nearly $62 million for Parx compared to just over $6 million in 2019.

Statewide, gaming revenues were down 22 percent in 2020, according to the board. Pennsylvania's 13 casinos were closed a total of 1,473 days, or 33 percent of the number of days they would have been open otherwise.

Statewide, legal gambling in Pennsylvania brought in about $2.6 billion in 2020. That's down to $3.4 billion in 2019.
