The Nevada Gaming Commission cleared the way for the San Manuel Gaming and Hospitality Authority to assume ownership of the off-Strip resort. The tribe announced in May that it was buying the property from Red Rock Resorts for $650 million in cash.

San Manuel is the first Native American tribe to own and operate a casino-resort in Las Vegas. The tribe also owns and operates Yaamava' Resort & Casino at San Manuel in Highland, California. The Seminole Tribe of Florida's Hard Rock International announced it was acquiring the Mirage in a deal to be completed in 2022. Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment operates the casino at Virgin Hotels Las Las. Vegas and the resort at Palms. Cynthia Kiser Murphey, general manager of the Palm, believes it's important to bring the tribe's values and culture into everything she does.

The new Palms Casino Resort is being opened in Las Vegas. The tribe that runs the resort is sensitive about its culture and history. It's not clear how that difference will manifest at the Palm. The resort will compete with everyone else. "New money coming into Las Las Nevada has always been good"
