Gov. Tom Wolf ordered the temporary shutdown of entertainment industry for the remainder of 2020 and into early 2021. The number of positive COVID-19 cases continues to climb in Pennsylvania. Nine gaming executives representing their respective casinos in the commonwealth wrote to Wolf asking him to keep casinos open. Penn National Gaming said it has adhered to the guidance from Wolf’s administration, the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the Gaming Control Board”s CO VID- 19 protocols. The closure of Penn‘s casinos will affect 18,000 employees and thousands of business partners.

The following casinos will cease all gaming activities and patron entry: Harrah’s Philadelphia, Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course, Live! Casino Pittsburgh, Meadows Casino and Racetrack, Mohegan Sun Pocono, Parx Casino, Valley Forge Casino & Resort, and Wind Creek Bethlehem. The closures do not affect other forms of gaming regulated by the Gaming Control Board offered via the internet. Midtown Cinema's budget is down 70% in the current budget year. They had to furlough some people. The entertainment industry has been feeling the economic pinch since the pandemic began in March.
