A NEW slot machine arcade has opened in Warrington town centre.

Merkut Slots’ new £200,000 branch on Bridge Street is now open in the former JD Sports unit, next door to McDonald’s.

Ten jobs have been created as a result, with the site set to host a ‘party day’ from 1pm next Saturday, January 29, including the chance to win two Warrington Wolves season tickets.

The company says that its ‘emphasis is firmly on low stakes gaming’ with pay-outs ranging from £5 to £500, with customers also receiving unlimited free refreshments.

Mark Schertle, chief operating officer of parent company Merkur Casino UK, said: “We pride ourselves on our continued investment in UK high streets, and so it means a lot to be able to support the local community and economy in Warrington through the creation of these new jobs.

“Our aim with our new state-of-the-art entertainment centre on Bridge Street is to give both new and existing customers a unique gaming experience in an environment that reflects the scale of the investment.

“I’m sure those visiting over the next few days and weeks will be as excited about this new Merkur Slots venue as I am.”
