New York State has made million in tax revenue from online sports betting and casinos and soon there may be a "Vegas" style casino located in the state.

Currently, there are 12 land-based casinos in the state which are overseen by the New York State Gaming Commission. Also within the state border are 15 tribal casinos that are regulated by the Native American tribes that run them.

A new Las Vegas-style casino and resort is set to come to New York State. Earlier this month, the Las Vegas Sands Corp. is looking at building a massive casino and resort on Long Island.

New York State is auctioning off three casino licenses in Downstate New York.

If the Las Vegas Sands Corp. gets one of the licenses they are hoping to open up their casino right where the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum sits. They are looking to purchase the long-term lease on the land, which would give the company about 80 acres of land in Nassau County.

Earlier this month, the New York State Gaming Commission Facility Location Board announced a request for applications for one of the three licenses. Each request requires a $1 million entry fee for the licenses.

Along with the casino, the project would include hotels, restaurants, a performance venue, and a convention space. The new facility would provide thousands of union jobs both in construction and operations in the area.

Currently, the largest casino in New York is the Resorts World Casino in New York City. There are over 6500 games available at the casino along with several restaurants and a hotel attached to the casino.

New York State is hoping to finalize the three licenses by the end of the year.
